Liana

Presentation: Liana is available as tablets for oral administration. Each pack typically contains 28 tablets: 24 pink active tablets, each containing drospirenone 3 mg and estetrol monohydrate equivalent to estetrol 14.2 mg,

Indications: Liana is indicated for use by females of reproductive potential to prevent pregnancy.

Dosage and Administration: One tablet is to be taken orally each day for 28 consecutive days, following the order indicated on the blister pack. It is important to take the tablet at the same time each day.

• Active tablets: One pink active tablet is taken daily for the first 24 days of the cycle.
• Inert tablets: Following the active tablets, one white inert tablet is taken daily for the next 4 days. Menstruation (withdrawal bleeding) usually occurs during the days of inert tablet intake.
• A new pack should be started immediately after finishing the previous pack, without any break.

Specific instructions should be followed in case of missed tablets, vomiting, or diarrhea, as detailed in the product leaflet or as advised by a healthcare professional.

Side Effects: Common side effects associated with Liana may include bleeding irregularities (spotting or breakthrough bleeding), mood disturbances, headache, breast symptoms (tenderness, pain), dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation), acne, weight increase, and decreased libido.

Less common but potentially serious side effects can occur. These include thromboembolic disorders (blood clots), hypertension, and liver problems.

Precautions: Before using Liana, a complete medical history should be taken, and a physical examination should be conducted by a healthcare professional to identify any contraindications or risk factors.

Liana is contraindicated in certain conditions, including a high risk of arterial or venous thrombotic diseases, current or history of hormonally-sensitive malignancy (e.g., breast cancer), hepatic adenoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, acute hepatitis or decompensated cirrhosis, undiagnosed abnormal uterine bleeding, renal impairment, or adrenal insufficiency.

Caution should be exercised in women with risk factors for cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, migraine, history of hormonally sensitive malignancies, liver disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, gallbladder disease, or history of irregular bleeding. Liana may interact with certain medications.

Storage: Store Liana tablets at 20°C to 25°C, in a frost-free place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
