Ligazid M 850

Presentation: Each tablet of Ligazid M 850 contains 2.5 mg of linagliptin and 850 mg of metformin hydrochloride.

Indications:Ligazid M is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus whentreatment with both linagliptin and metformin is appropriate.  

Dosage and Administration:The dosageof Ligazid M should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum recommendeddaily dose of 5 mg linagliptinand 2000 mg metformin. It is usually taken twice daily with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.The recommended starting dose in patients not currently treated with metformin is2.5 mg linagliptin/500 mg metformin hydrochloride twice daily. In patients already treated with metformin, the starting dose of Ligazid M is 2.5 mg linagliptin plus the current dose of metformin twice daily.

Side Effects:Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, headache, and nasopharyngitis.Hypoglycemia may occur when Ligazid M is used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Precautions:Ligazid M is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, and known hypersensitivity to linagliptin or metformin.It should be used with caution in patients with moderate renal impairment, liver disease, and a history of pancreatitis. Excessive alcohol intake should be avoided due to the increased risk of lactic acidosis associated with metformin.
