Lijenta 5 

Presentation: Lijenta 5 Tablet, available in Bangladesh, contains Linagliptin 5 mg. 

Indications: Lijenta is indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitusto improve glycemic control as:  

• Monotherapy: in patients inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone and forwhom metformin is inappropriate due to intolerance or contraindications.  
• Combination therapy: in combination with other glucose-lowering medicinal products includingmetformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin when these, along with diet and exercise, do not provide adequate glycemic control.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose of Lijenta is 5 mg once daily, taken orally at any time of the day, with or without food.

• No dose adjustment is required based on renal function.
• No dose adjustment is required based on hepatic impairment.
• Lijenta can be taken with other oral antidiabetic agents or insulin. When used in combination with a sulfonylurea or insulin, a lower dose of the sulfonylurea or insulin may be considered to reduce the riskof hypoglycemia.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include nasopharyngitis (common cold), hypoglycemia (when used in combination with sulfonylureas or insulin), and increased amylase levels. Less common side effects can include constipation.

Precautions: Lijenta is contraindicated in patients with a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to linagliptin or any of the excipients. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis. There have been postmarketing reports of pancreatitis in patients taking linagliptin, although a causal relationship has not been definitively established. If pancreatitis is suspected, Lijenta should be discontinued.

Storage: Store Lijenta 5 tablets below 30°C, protected from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
