Limaryl M 1/500 

Presentation: Each tablet contains Glimepiride 1 mg and Metformin Hydrochloride BP 500 mg. Available in strips.

Indications: Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet and exercise plus monotherapy with either glimepiride or metformin are not adequate. May also be used to replace prior combination therapy of glimepiride and metformin as separate tablets.

Dosage and Administration: The usual starting dose is one tablet once daily with the first main meal (usually breakfast). Dosage should be individualized based on the patient's glycemic control and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of glimepiride 8 mg and metformin 2000 mg. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not chew or crush. Dosage adjustments should be made gradually under medical supervision, usually at intervals of 1-2 weeks based on blood glucose monitoring.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and headache. Metformin may cause gastrointestinal disturbances, especially at the start of treatment. Glimepiride may cause weight gain and visual disturbances, particularly at the start of treatment due to changes in blood glucose levels.

Precautions: Contraindicated in type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute metabolic acidosis, and known hypersensitivity to sulfonylureas or metformin. Use with caution in patients with moderate renal impairment, liver disease, and in elderly patients. Avoid excessive alcohol intake. Increased risk of hypoglycemia may occur in combination with insulin or other antidiabetic agents. Inform your doctor about any planned surgery.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
