Presentation: Each film-coated tablet contains 2 mg of glimepiride.

Indications: Limpet is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient to achieve adequate glycemic control. Limpet may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or insulin.

Dosage and Administration: Limpet 2 tablets are for oral administration and should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid. It should be taken once daily, approximately 30 minutes before the first main meal of the day (usually breakfast). It is important not to skip meals after taking Limpet.

• Adults: The usual starting dose is 1 mg once daily. The dose may be increased gradually at intervals of one to two weeks based on blood glucose response. The usual maintenance dose ranges from 1 to 4 mg once daily. In some cases, higher doses up to 8 mg once daily may be necessary.
• Elderly: Dosage should be initiated at the lowest possible dose, such as 1 mg once daily, and titrated cautiously.
• Renal Impairment: In patients with mild to moderate renal impairment, the starting dose should be low (e.g., 1 mg once daily), and dosage increases should be gradual with careful monitoring of blood glucose. Limpet is not recommended for use in patients with severe renal impairment.

Side Effects: The most common side effect of Limpet is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Other common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal discomfort) and visual disturbances.

Precautions: Patients should be educated about the signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia and how to manage them. Regular blood glucose monitoring is essential. Limpet should be used with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment and in elderly or debilitated patients.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
