Linaglip 5 

Presentation: Linaglip 5 tablets contain 5 mg of linagliptin.

Indications: Linaglip is indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control:  

• As monotherapy:In patients inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone and forwhom metformin is inappropriate due to intolerance or contraindications(e.g., renal impairment).
• As combination therapy: In combination with other antidiabetic medications such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin when diet and exercise plus the single or dual therapy do not provide adequate glycemic control.

Dosage and Administration: The usual dose of Linaglip is 5 mg once daily. It can be taken with or without food at any time of the day, but it is preferable to take it at the same time each day. No dose adjustment is required for patients with renal impairment. When used in combination with a sulfonylurea or insulin, a lower dose of the sulfonylurea or insulin may be considered to reduce the riskof hypoglycemia.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages)
• Cough

When Linaglip is used in combination with metformin and a sulfonylurea, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can occur. Pancreatitis has also been reported rarely.

Precautions: Linaglip is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to linagliptin or any of the excipients. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis. Although Linaglip alone does not usually cause low blood sugar, it can increase the risk when used with other medications that lower blood sugar, such as sulfonylureas and insulin.

Storage: Store in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
