Linaglip M 500

Presentation:Each film-coated tablet contains 2.5 mg of linagliptin and 500 mg of metformin hydrochloride.

Indications:Linaglip M is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellituswhen treatment with both linagliptin and metformin is appropriate.  

Dosage and Administration:The dosageof Linaglip M should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen. It is usually taken twice daily with meals to reduce the gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.

• For patients not currently treated with metformin: The starting dose is 2.5 mg linagliptin/500 mg metformin hydrochloride twice daily.
• For patients already treated with metformin: The starting dose is 2.5 mg linagliptin and the current dose of metformin taken twice daily. The maximum recommended daily dose is 5 mg of linagliptin and 2000 mg of metformin hydrochloride. Renal function should be assessed before initiating Linaglip M and periodically thereafter. Linaglip M is contraindicated in patients with an eGFR below 30 mL/min/1.73 m².  

Side Effects: Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, headache, and nasopharyngitis. Hypoglycemia may occur when Linaglip M is used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.Pancreatitis has been reported with linagliptin.  

Precautions:Linaglip M is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, and known hypersensitivity to linagliptin, metformin, or any of the excipients.It is not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Assess renal function before initiation and monitor periodically. Avoid excessive alcohol intake. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis.

Storage: Store below 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
