Linalit 

Presentation: Linalit tablets contain Linagliptin and are available in strengths of 5 mg. They are presented in strips.

Indications: Linalit is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults to improve glycemic control. It can be used:

• As monotherapy:In patients inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone and for whom metformin is inappropriate due to intolerance or contraindicationsdue to renal impairment. 
• As combination therapy:In combination withother glucose-lowering medications, including metformin, sulfonylurea (with or without metformin), or insulin, when diet and exercise plus the single or dual therapy do not provide adequate glycemic control.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose of Linalit is 5 mg once daily. It can be taken with or without food at any time of the day. No dose adjustment is required for patients with renal impairment. When used in combination with a sulfonylurea, a lower dose of the sulfonylurea may be considered to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.  

Side Effects: When Linalit is used alone, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) is not common. However, it can occur when Linalit is taken with other diabetes medications like insulin or sulfonylureas. Common side effects may include:

• Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages)
• Cough

Less common but potentially serious side effects include:

• Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
• Severe allergic reactions
• Liver problems

Precautions: Linalit is contraindicated in patients with a history of serious hypersensitivity reactions to linagliptin or any of the excipients. Caution should be exercised when Linalit is used in combination with insulin secretagogues (e.g., sulfonylureas) or insulin, as it may increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Storage: Store in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
