Linarol-M 500

Presentation:Each film-coated tablet contains 2.5 mg of linagliptin and 500 mg of metformin hydrochloride. 

Indications:Linarol-M is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both linagliptin and metformin is appropriate.This includes:

• Patients not adequately controlled on metformin hydrochloride alone.
• Patients already treated with linagliptin and metformin hydrochloride as separate tablets.

Dosage and Administration: The usual starting dose is one tablet twice daily with meals. Dosage should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, while not exceeding the maximum dailydose of 5 mg linagliptin and 2000 mg metformin hydrochloride. Patients already taking linagliptin and metformin as separate tablets may be switched to Linarol-M containing the same doses of each component.Dose escalation should be gradual to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.

Side Effects:Common side effects may include nasopharyngitis and diarrhea.Hypoglycemia may occur when Linarol-M is used in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as sulfonylureas or insulin.Gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and decreased appetite, may also occur, particularly at the start of treatment.  

Precautions:Linarol-M is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, and known hypersensitivity to linagliptin or metformin hydrochloride.Initiation of Linarol-M is not recommended in patients with eGFR between 30-45 mL/min/1.73 m². Caution should be exercised in patients with moderate renal impairment, heart failure, and hepatic impairment. Alcohol consumption should be limited due to the increased risk of lactic acidosis associated with metformin.  

Storage:Store below 30°C, protected from moisture.Keep out of reach of children.
