Linax 5

Presentation: Each tablet contains 5 mg of linagliptin. 

Indications: Linax is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It can be used as monotherapy or in combinationwith other glucose-lowering medications, including metformin, sulfonylureas, and insulin.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose of Linax is 5 mg once daily. It can be taken with or without food. No dosage adjustment is required for patients with renal impairment or in elderly patients.

Side Effects: Common side effects reported with linagliptin include:

• Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the nose and throat)
• Upper respiratory tract infection
• Headache

Less common side effects may include:

• Hyperlipidemia (high levels of fat in the blood)
• Increased lipase (an enzyme related to digestion)
• Angioedema (swelling under the skin)
• Urticaria (hives)
• Rash
• Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is not common with linagliptin alone but may occur when it is used in combination with other medications known to cause hypoglycemia, such as sulfonylureas or insulin.

Precautions: Linax is contraindicated in patients with a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to linagliptin or any of the excipients. Pancreatitis has been reported in patients treated with linagliptin; if pancreatitis is suspected, Linax should be promptly discontinued.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
