Linax Plus 2.5/850

Presentation:Each tablet contains 2.5 mg of linagliptin and 850 mg of metformin hydrochloride.

Indications:Linax Plus is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellituswhen treatment with both linagliptin and metformin is appropriate.  

Dosage and Administration:The dosageof Linax Plus should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum recommendeddaily dose of 5 mg of linagliptin and 2000 mg of metformin hydrochloride. It is usually taken twice daily with meals to reduce the gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.⁶  

• For patients not currently treated with metformin:The starting dose is 2.5 mg linagliptin/500 mg metformin hydrochloride twice daily.Your doctor may adjust this based on your response.
• For patients already treated with metformin 850 mg twice daily: The starting dose is 2.5 mg linagliptin added to their current metformin dose, taken twice daily. Renal function should be assessed before initiating Linax Plus and periodically thereafter. Linax Plus is contraindicated in patients with an eGFR below 30 mL/min/1.73 m².

Side Effects:Common side effects may include nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages) and diarrhea.Hypoglycemia may occur when Linax Plus is used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. Pancreatitis has been reported with linagliptin.Other possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, and headache.  

Precautions:Linax Plus is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, and known hypersensitivity to linagliptin, metformin, or any of the excipients.It is not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Assess renal function before initiation and monitor periodically. Avoid excessive alcohol intake. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis. Metformin should be temporarily discontinued in patients undergoing radiologic studies with intravascular administration of iodinated contrast materials or any surgical procedures necessitating restricted intakeof food and fluids.  

Storage:Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.Keep out of reach of children.
