Lino 5
Presentation: Each tablet contains 5 mg of linagliptin.
Indications: Lino is indicated in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults to improve glycemic control. It can be used:
Dosage and Administration: The usual dose of Lino is 5 mg once daily. It can be taken with or without food at any time of the day, but it is preferable to take it at the same time each day. If Lino is added to metformin, the metformin dose should be maintained. When used in combination with a sulfonylurea, a lower dose of the sulfonylurea may be considered to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia. No dose adjustment is required for patients with renal impairment.
Side Effects: Common side effects may include nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages) and cough. When used in combination with metformin and sulfonylurea, there is an increased risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Pancreatitis has also been reported.
Precautions: Lino is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to linagliptin or any of the excipients. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis. Although Lino alone is not typically associated with hypoglycemia, it can increase the risk when used with other medications that lower blood sugar, such as sulfonylureas and insulin.
Storage: Store in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
