Lithosun SR

Presentation: SR Tablet: Lithium Carbonate.

Indications: Treatment and prophylaxis of mania, bipolar disorder, and recurrent depression. May also be used for other behavioral disorders.

Dosage & Administration: Individualized. Adults and children over 12 years: Initially 1-1.5 gm daily, with food. Prophylaxis: Initially 300-400 mg daily, with food. Follow physician's instructions. Monitor lithium blood levels, thyroid, and kidney function. Maintain adequate fluid and salt intake.

Side Effects: Common: Hand tremor, increased urination, increased thirst, nausea, general discomfort (early treatment), dizziness, rash. Less common/serious: Refer to a physician for a comprehensive list including neurological, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, dermatological, and metabolic effects.

Precautions: Contraindicated in renal insufficiency, cardiovascular insufficiency, Addison's disease, untreated hypothyroidism. Use with caution in dehydration, diarrhea, heart disease. Avoid significant changes in sodium or fluid intake. Drug interactions are significant; inform your doctor of all medications. Not recommended in pregnancy (Category D) or breastfeeding. May cause drowsiness; caution when driving.

Storage: Store at room temperature (around 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
