Lozicum 1

Presentation: Each tablet contains Lorazepam BP 1 mg.

Indications: Lozicum (Lorazepam) is indicated for the management of anxiety disorders or for the short-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety or anxiety associated with depressive symptoms.It is also used for insomnia due to anxiety or transient situational stress, as a premedicant to relieve anxiety and provide sedation before surgical or diagnostic procedures, and for the treatment of status epilepticus.

Dosage and Administration: Dosage should be individualized and determined by a healthcare professional based on the condition being treated, the severity of symptoms, and the patient's response.

• Anxiety: Usual adult dose is 2 to 6 mg daily given in divided doses, the largest dose being taken before bedtime, but the daily dosage may vary from 1 to 10 mg per day.  
• Insomnia due to Anxiety or Transient Situational Stress: Usually 2 to 4 mg at bedtime.
• Premedication: Usual adult dose is 2 to 4 mg orally the night before and/or 1 to 2 hours before the surgical or diagnostic procedure.
• Status Epilepticus: Usual adult initial intravenous dose is 4 mg, which may be repeated if necessary after 10 to 15 minutes. (Oral use is not indicated for status epilepticus).

Lozicum tablets are administered orally. The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest duration necessary. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided to minimize the risk of withdrawal symptoms.

Side Effects: Common adverse reactions may include sedation, drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, and unsteadiness. Less common side effects can include disorientation, depression, nausea, change in appetite, headache, and blurred vision.

Precautions: Lozicum is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines and in patients with acute narrow-angle glaucoma. It is generally not recommended for use in patients with primary depressive disorder or psychosis. Caution should be exercised in patients with respiratory insufficiency, severe hepatic or renal impairment, and a history of drug abuse or dependence. Lorazepam may impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. Use with alcohol or other CNS depressants should be avoided. Potential for dependence exists. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be carefully considered.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
