Ludiomil 25

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing 25 mg Maprotiline Hydrochloride.

Indications: Treatment of depression, including endogenous and late-onset depression, psychogenic, reactive, and neurotic depression, exhaustion depression, somatogenic depression, masked depression, and menopausal depression. It is also used for other depressive mood disorders characterized by anxiety, dysphoria, or irritability, apathetic states (especially in the elderly), and psychosomatic and somatic symptoms with underlying depression and/or anxiety.

Dosage & Administration: The recommended daily dose varies between 75 mg and 150 mg. Treatment may start with 25 mg one to three times a day or 75 mg once a day, and then gradually increased until the effective dose is reached, depending on the severity of symptoms, patient response, and tolerance. Daily doses above 150 mg are not recommended. In elderly patients, lower initial dosages (e.g., 25 mg to 50 mg daily) are usually satisfactory. A single daily dose can be taken as an alternative to divided doses, usually after dinner or before bedtime. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include dry mouth, constipation, drowsiness, sleeplessness, nervousness, dizziness, tremor (shaking of limbs), speech disorder, headache, malaise, and weakness. Less common or rare side effects can include skin rash, itching, fever, blurred vision, changes in heart rate, confusion, difficulty urinating, hallucinations, and yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Precautions: Inform your doctor if you have a history of allergic reactions, glaucoma, convulsive disease or its history, urinary retention, or if you are in the early recovery period after a heart attack. Use caution if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are taking other medications, including over-the-counter drugs and dietary supplements. This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so avoid operating dangerous machinery such as driving a car. Avoid drinking alcohol as it may intensify drowsiness.

Storage: Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.
