Product Overview

Maczith 200mg/5ml Suspension is a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic effective against respiratory, skin/soft tissue, ear, and sexually transmitted infections in adults and children. Its unique pharmacokinetics allow short-course dosing for enhanced compliance.


Key Uses

Treats bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms:

  • Pediatric Focus: Ear infections (otitis media), pneumonia, strep throat, sinusitis

  • Adult & Pediatric: Skin/soft tissue infections, typhoid fever*

  • STIs: Uncomplicated gonorrhea, chlamydial urethritis/cervicitis

*Off-label use for typhoid; confirm local guidelines


Mechanism of Action

Azithromycin binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis and stopping bacterial growth without affecting human cells.


Dosage Guide

Special Cases

Shake bottle well before use. Use provided measuring cup.


Administration

  1. Preparation:

    • Shake bottle → Add cooled boiled water to marked line → Shake vigorously until dissolved.

  2. Timing:

    • Take 1 hour before or 2 hours after food/antacids.

  3. Storage:

    • Use within 10 days of mixing. Keep refrigerated (2-8°C).
