Magmil 200ml 

Presentation: Magmil 200ml is an oral suspension containing Magnesium Hydroxide BP at a strength of 400 mg per 5 ml. It is marketed by Pacific Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh and is available in a 200 ml bottle. Magmil is also available in a 100 ml bottle.

Indications: Magmil (Magnesium Hydroxide) is indicated for the relief of:

  • Constipation  
  • Heartburn  
  • Indigestion
  • Gastrointestinal hyperacidity  
  • It can also be used as an osmotic laxative.  

Dosage and Administration: The dosage depends on the age and the condition being treated. Shake the bottle well before use. It is usually taken orally with a full glass of water.  

  • As a laxative:
    • Adults: 30-60 ml (6-12 teaspoonfuls) once daily at bedtime or in divided doses.
    • Children (6-11 years): 15-30 ml (3-6 teaspoonfuls) once daily.
    • Children (2-5 years): 5-15 ml (1-3 teaspoonfuls) once daily.
    • Children under 2 years: Use only as directed by a physician; safety and efficacy not established.
  • As an antacid:
    • Adults:5-15 ml (1-3 teaspoonfuls) up to four times daily with water.  
    • Children (1-3 years): 1.25 ml (Âŧ teaspoonful).
    • Children (3-6 years): 1.25-2.5 ml (Âŧ - ÂŊ teaspoonful).
    • Children (6-12 years): 2.5-5 ml (ÂŊ - 1 teaspoonful).

Side Effects: Common side effects may include diarrhea and abdominal cramping. Excessive use may lead to electrolyte imbalance.

Precautions: Magmil (Magnesium Hydroxide) is contraindicated in patients with intestinal obstruction, fecal impaction, renal failure, and appendicitis. It should be used with caution in patients with colostomy, ileostomy, and electrolyte imbalance. Magnesium hydroxide can decrease the absorption of certain drugs, such as tetracyclines and bisphosphonates. Separate the administration of Magmil from these and other medications as advised by your doctor or pharmacist.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: The drug may be used cautiously in pregnancy. Consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
