Marincal DX

Presentation: Each film-coated tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP (from Coral source) equivalent to either 500 mg or 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 USP 200 IU or 400 IU, depending on the specific formulation available in Bangladesh.

Indications: Marincal DX is indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, tetany, and hypoparathyroidism. It is also used as a supplement in cases of inadequate calcium intake in childhood diet, rickets, pregnancy and lactation, and in elderly patients. Other indications include pancreatitis and as a phosphate binder in chronic renal failure.

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dose is one tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water, preferably with or after a meal to ensure better absorption, or as directed by a physician.

Side Effects: Rarely, mild gastrointestinal disturbances such as flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, or upper gastrointestinal discomfort may occur. Hypercalcemia due to prolonged use has been rarely reported.

Precautions: Marincal DX is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component, hypercalcemia resulting from Vitamin D3 overdose, hyperparathyroidism, bone metastases, severe renal insufficiency, severe hypercalciuria, and renal calculi. Caution should be exercised in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment or mild hypercalciuria, and monitoring of plasma calcium levels and urinary calcium excretion may be necessary. Calcium supplements should be taken at a different time from tetracycline and fluoride preparations (allow a minimum of 3 hours between ingestion). Thiazide diuretics reduce the renal excretion of calcium. Phenytoin, barbiturates, and glucocorticoids may induce the metabolism of Vitamin D3. Concomitant ingestion of certain foods like spinach, cereals, milk, and its derivatives may reduce the intestinal uptakeof calcium.

Storage:Storeat a temperature below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
