Marvelta 

Presentation: Marvelta is a brand name marketed by Orion Pharma Ltd. in Bangladesh. It is available as tablets containing Sodium Alginate BP 500 mg and Potassium Bicarbonate BP 100 mg. The tablets are usually available in blister packs.

Indications: Marvelta is indicated for the treatment of symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux, such as:  

• Acid regurgitation  
• Heartburn  
• Indigestion (related to reflux), for example, following meals or during pregnancy  
• Symptoms related to reflux esophagitis
• It can also be used to treat the symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux during concomitant treatment with or following the withdrawal of acid-suppressingtherapy.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults and children over 12 years:1-2 tablets 3-4 times daily, after meals and before bedtime.  
• Children 6-12 years:½-1 tablet 3-4 times daily, after meals and before bedtime.The tablets should be chewed thoroughly before swallowing, followed by a full glass of water.

Side Effects: In addition to the desired effect, some side effects may occur, such as:

• Nausea
• Constipation
• Diarrhoea
• Headache In case a large dosage has been taken, a sensation of swelling may appear. In such cases, consult a physician.

Precautions: Marvelta should be prescribed with caution in patients with renal impairment and congestive cardiac failure. Care needs to be taken in treating patients with hypercalcaemia,nephrocalcinosis and recurrent calcium-containing renal calculi. A time interval of 2 hours should be considered betweenthe intake of Marvelta and the administration of other medicinal products, especially tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, iron salts, thyroid hormones, chloroquine, bisphosphonates, and estramustine.  

Use in Pregnancyand Lactation: Marvelta can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding if clinically needed.

Storage: Keep below 30°C temperature, away from light & moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
