Menaril 8
Presentation: Each tablet contains Betahistine Dihydrochloride BP 8 mg.
Indications: Menaril (Betahistine) is indicated for the treatment of Meniere's disease and Meniere-like syndromes, characterized by symptoms such as vertigo (dizziness), tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and hearing loss, often accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
Dosage and Administration: The usual initial oral treatment for adults is 8 to 16 mg three times daily, preferably taken with meals. Maintenance doses are generally in the range of 24 to 48 mg daily, divided into two or three doses throughout the day. Dosage should be adjusted according to individual patient needs, as directed by a healthcare professional.
Side Effects: Menaril is generally well-tolerated. However, some patients may experience gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea and indigestion. Other less common side effects reported include headache, rash, and pruritus.
Precautions: Menaril is contraindicated in patients with pheochromocytoma. Caution should be exercised in patients with bronchial asthma and a history of peptic ulceration. The safety of Betahistine in human pregnancy has not been fully established, and it is not recommended for use during breastfeeding unless deemed necessary by a healthcare professional.
Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
