Mervan 100 is a tablet containing 100 mg of Aceclofenac. Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. It works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, which are chemicals in the body that contribute to pain and inflammation. Mervan 100 is manufactured by Aristopharma Ltd. 

Indications:

Mervan 100 is indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation in conditions such as: 

• Osteoarthritis 
• Rheumatoid arthritis 
• Ankylosing spondylitis 
• Low back pain 
• Dental pain 
• Post-traumatic pain 
• Lumbago 

Dosage and Administration:

The usual dose for adults is one 100 mg tablet twice daily, taken once in the morning and once in the evening. It is not recommended for children. In patients with liver dysfunction, the initial dose may be reduced to 100 mg daily. It is generally recommended to take Mervan 100 with food or milk to help prevent stomach upset. 

Contraindications:

Mervan 100 is contraindicated in patients with: 

• A history of hypersensitivity reactions to aceclofenac, aspirin, ibuprofen, or other NSAIDs. 
• Active or a history of recurrent peptic ulcer or hemorrhage. 

Side Effects:

The majority of side effects observed with aceclofenac are usually mild and temporary. These can include: 

• Gastrointestinal disorders such as dyspepsia (indigestion), abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, and flatulence. 
• Skin rash and itching. 

Long-term use of NSAIDs may increase the risk of serious gastrointestinal events, such as bleeding and ulceration. 

Precautions:

Caution should be exercised in patients with: 

• A history of peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding. 
• Moderate to severe hepatic impairment. 
• Cardiac or renal impairment. 
• Asthma, as NSAIDs may trigger bronchospasm in susceptible individuals. 
• Dizziness or urticaria. 

The use of aceclofenac should be avoided during pregnancy and lactation unless the potential benefits to the mother outweigh the possible risks to the fetus or child. 

Drug Interactions:

Mervan 100 can interact with several other medications. It's important to inform your doctor if you are taking: 

• Other NSAIDs, including aspirin. 
• Antihypertensives (may reduce their effect). 
• Diuretics (may inhibit their activity). 
• Digoxin (may increase plasma levels). 
• Lithium (may increase plasma levels). 
• Methotrexate (caution should be exercised if given within 24 hours). 
• Anticoagulants (such as warfarin, may enhance their effects). 
• Quinolone antibiotics (may increase the risk of convulsions). 
• Anti-platelet agents and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) (may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding). 

Storage:

Store in a dry place, away from light and heat, and keep out of reach of children.
