💊 Metavas MR (Trimetazidine Dihydrochloride)

Metavas MR is a metabolic anti-ischemic agent that helps the heart work more efficiently by shifting its energy source from fatty acids to glucose.

📋 Indications

• Stable Angina Pectoris: Used in adults as an add-on therapy when first-line treatments (like beta-blockers or nitrates) are not enough or not tolerated.

🥄 Dosage & Administration

• Standard Dose: One 35 mg tablet twice daily during meals.

• Assessment: A doctor should evaluate the benefits after 3 months. If there is no response, the medicine should be stopped.

• ⚠️ Note: This is not for acute angina attacks or recent heart attacks.

⚠️ Safety & Side Effects

• Common Side Effects: Dizziness, headache, stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and skin rash.

• Contraindications: 🛑 Do not use if you have:

  • Parkinson’s disease or parkinsonian symptoms (tremors, restless legs, movement disorders).

  • Severe kidney impairment.

  • Hypersensitivity to Trimetazidine.

🤰 Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy: As a precaution, it is preferred to avoid use during pregnancy.

• Breastfeeding: Should not be used, as it is unknown if it passes into breast milk.

🔍 Important Precautions

Metavas MR is a maintenance treatment and cannot be used to treat a sudden, acute chest pain attack.
