Micatel 20 is a tablet containing 20 mg of Telmisartan. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels. By blocking this hormone, telmisartan allows blood vessels to relax and widen, which lowers blood pressure. 

Indications:

Micatel 20 is used for: 

• Hypertension (high blood pressure): It helps to lower and maintain healthy blood pressure levels in adults. 
• Cardiovascular risk reduction: It may be used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke in adults with: 
  • Atherothrombotic cardiovascular disease (history of coronary heart disease, stroke, or peripheral artery disease). 
  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus with documented target organ damage. 

Dosage and Administration:

• The usual starting dose of telmisartan is 40 mg once a day. 
• The dosage can range from 20 to 80 mg once daily. 
• Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose for you based on your condition and response. 
• Micatel 20 tablets should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food. 
• It is important to take the tablet at the same time each day for the best effect. 

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Micatel 20 may include: 

• Sinus pain and congestion (sinusitis) 
• Back pain 
• Diarrhea 

Less common side effects may include: 

• Dizziness 
• Low blood pressure 
• Increased potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia) 
• Muscle pain 
• Flu-like symptoms 

Precautions:

Before taking Micatel 20, inform your doctor if you have: 

• Kidney problems 
• Liver problems 
• Heart problems 
• Low blood pressure 
• Diabetes 
• High potassium levels 

Micatel 20 is not recommended for use during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can harm the developing baby. It is also not recommended for breastfeeding women. 

Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Micatel 20 as it can lower blood pressure and increase dizziness. 

Drug Interactions:

Micatel 20 can interact with other medications. Inform your doctor if you are taking: 

• Other blood pressure medications (ACE inhibitors, other ARBs, diuretics) 
• Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) 
• Lithium 
• Digoxin
