Micatel 40 is a tablet containing 40 mg of Telmisartan. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels. By blocking this hormone, telmisartan allows blood vessels to relax and widen, which lowers blood pressure. Micatel 40 is manufactured by Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Indications:

Micatel 40 is used for:

• Hypertension (high blood pressure): It helps to lower and maintain healthy blood pressure levels in adults.
• Cardiovascular risk reduction: It may be used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke in adults with:
  • Atherothrombotic cardiovascular disease (history of coronary heart disease, stroke, or peripheral artery disease).
  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus with documented target organ damage.

Dosage and Administration:

• The usual starting dose of telmisartan is 40 mg once a day.
• Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your blood pressure response. The usual maintenance dose is also 40 mg once daily, but it can range from 20 to 80 mg once daily.
• Micatel 40 tablets should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food.
• It is important to take the tablet at the same time each day for the best effect.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Micatel 40 may include:

• Sinus pain and congestion (sinusitis)
• Back pain
• Diarrhea

Less common side effects may include:

• Dizziness
• Low blood pressure
• Increased potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia)
• Muscle pain
• Flu-like symptoms

Precautions:
