Microlon

Presentation:Microlon tablets contain a combination of two active ingredients: desogestrel (a progestogen) 0.15 mg and ethinylestradiol (an estrogen) 0.03 mg.Microlon is available in strips of 21 tablets.  

Indications:Microlon is a combined oral contraceptive pill ("the Pill") used to prevent pregnancy.It may also offer other benefits such as making periods more regular, lighter, and less painful, and may help to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer.

Dosage and Administration:Take one tablet daily at the same time each day, following the order indicated on the blister strip.Swallow the tablet whole with water if needed. After taking all 21 tablets in the strip, there is a 7-day pill-free interval.During this break, a withdrawal bleed usually occurs. Start the next strip on the 8th day, even if the bleeding has not stopped. Contraceptive protection continues during the pill-free interval.

Side Effects:Common side effects may include nausea, stomach pain, headache, irregular uterine bleeding (spotting or breakthrough bleeding), weight gain, and breast pain or tenderness.Less common side effects can include changes in mood, changes in libido, fluid retention, changes in vaginal secretions, and skin problems.Serious side effects, although rare, can include blood clots.

Precautions: Microlon is contraindicated in certain conditions, including a history of or current blood clots, stroke or heart attack, conditions that increase the risk of blood clots, migraine with aura, high blood pressure, certain types of cancer, liver disease, and pregnancy. Smoking increases the risk of serious cardiovascular side effects from combined oral contraceptives, especially in women over 35 years old.Inform your doctor about your complete medical history before starting Microlon.
