Montair 10 is a tablet containing 10 mg of Montelukast Sodium. It is manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. 

Indications:

Montair 10 is indicated for adults and adolescents (15 years and older) for: 

• Prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma.
• Acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB). It should be taken at least 2 hours before exercise. 
• Relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR), both seasonal and perennial. 

Pharmacology:

Montelukast is a selective leukotriene receptor antagonist. Leukotrienes are chemicals the body releases that cause inflammation in the airways, leading to asthma symptoms and allergic rhinitis. Montelukast works by blocking the action of these leukotrienes, thereby reducing inflammation and easing breathing. 

Dosage and Administration:

The usual dosage for adults and adolescents (15 years and older) is one 10 mg tablet once daily, usually taken in the evening for asthma and allergic rhinitis. For exercise-induced bronchoconstriction, one 10 mg tablet should be taken at least 2 hours before exercise. It can be taken with or without food. 

Important Notes:

• Montair 10 is not for treating acute asthma attacks. A rescue inhaler should be used for sudden breathing problems. 
• It should not be abruptly substituted for inhaled or oral corticosteroids. 
• Patients should be vigilant for mood and behavior changes and report them to the doctor immediately. 

Side Effects:

Montair 10 is generally well-tolerated. Common side effects may include: 

• Headache 
• Diarrhea 
• Abdominal pain 
• Nausea 
• Vomiting 
• Fever 
• Upper respiratory tract infection 
• Sore throat 
• Cough 

Less common side effects can include dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, and skin rash. Mood and behavior changes have been reported rarely. 

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor about any liver problems. 
• It is not for acute asthma attacks. 
• Do not suddenly stop taking it or reduce the dose of other asthma medications without your doctor's advice. 
• Be aware of potential mood and behavior changes. 
• Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be discussed with a healthcare professional.
