Montair 4 ODT is an orodispersible tablet containing 4 mg of Montelukast Sodium. Orodispersible tablets dissolve in the mouth without the need for water, making them convenient for children and individuals who have difficulty swallowing. Montair 4 ODT is manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. 

Indications:

Montair 4 ODT is indicated for children aged 2 to 5 years for: 

• Prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma.
• Relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR), both seasonal and perennial. 

Pharmacology:

Montelukast is a selective leukotriene receptor antagonist. Leukotrienes are chemicals the body releases that cause inflammation in the airways, leading to asthma symptoms and allergic rhinitis. Montelukast works by blocking the action of these leukotrienes, thereby reducing inflammation and easing breathing. 

Dosage and Administration:

The usual dosage for children aged 2 to 5 years is one 4 mg orodispersible tablet once daily, taken in the evening. 

• The tablet should be placed in the mouth and allowed to dissolve. It can be taken with or without food. 

Important Notes:

• Montair 4 ODT is not for treating acute asthma attacks. A rescue inhaler should be used for sudden breathing problems. 
• It should not be abruptly substituted for inhaled or oral corticosteroids. 
• Parents/caregivers should be vigilant for mood and behavior changes in children taking Montelukast and report them to the doctor immediately.
