Indications:
Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy
Postherpetic neuralgia
Adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures in patients 1 month of age and older
Fibromyalgia

Pharmacology:
Pregabalin binds to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system.
Dosage & Administration:
The total daily dose is usually started at 150 mg per day, divided into two or three doses.
The dose may be increased based on individual patient response and tolerability, up to a maximum of 600 mg per day.
Capsules can be taken with or without food.
Contraindications:
Patients with known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or any of its components.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include:
Dizziness
Somnolence
Dry mouth
Edema
Blurred vision
Weight gain
Thinking abnormalities (primarily difficulty with concentration/attention)
Less common but serious side effects:
Angioedema
Increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior
Respiratory depression
Peripheral edema
Precautions:
Pregabalin may cause dizziness and somnolence and impair a patient's ability to drive or operate machinery.
Withdrawal symptoms may occur if the drug is abruptly discontinued.
Use with caution in patients with kidney disease.
