Naafcal-DS 

Presentation: Each tablet typically contains Calcium Carbonate 600 mg (elemental) and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 400 IU. Available in strips, manufactured by Naafco Pharma Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Indications: Indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, and tetany. Also used in parathyroid disease and as a calcium supplement to ensure adequate dietary intake in conditions such as pregnancy and lactation, osteogenesis and tooth formation (as an adjunctto definitive treatment), and during therapy with anti-seizure medications. It is also used as a routine supplement and phosphate binder in chronic renal failure.  

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dose is one tablet twice daily, preferably with or just after a meal to improve absorption, or as directed by a physician.

Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated. Possible side effects may include nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, dry mouth, increased thirst, and increased urination. Constipation may also occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcaemia, hyperthyroidism, renal calculi (kidney stones), nephrolithiasis, and Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. Caution should be taken in patients with pre-existing heart disease or kidney disease. Use during pregnancy and lactation should be as directed by a physician.

Storage: Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
