Naclitab 600
Presentation: White, round, biconvex prolonged-release tablets containing Sodium Chloride BP 600 mg. Available in strips. Manufactured by Opsonin Pharma Ltd. in Bangladesh.
Indications: Indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of Sodium Chloride deficiency. It is a short-term fluid replacement medication that helps replenish the body's salt and electrolyte balance. May be used in cases of excessive sweating, vomiting, diarrhea, or other conditions leading to sodium loss. Also used to control muscle cramps during routine maintenance hemodialysis and in some cases of chronic renal salt-wasting.
Dosage and Administration: The tablet should be swallowed whole with water (approximately 70 ml per tablet where kidney function is normal to avoid hypernatremia) and not chewed.
Side Effects: No side effects have been reported with Naclitab 600 mg tablet at the recommended dosage. However, excessive intake can lead to hypernatremia (high sodium levels), with symptoms including restlessness, weakness, thirst, reduced salivation and tear production, swollen tongue, flushed skin, fever, dizziness, headache, reduced urine output, high blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, delirium, rapid breathing, and breathing difficulties.
Precautions: Contraindicated in any situation where salt retention is undesirable, such as edema, heart disease, cardiac decompensation, and primary or secondary aldosteronism, or where therapy is being given to produce salt and water loss. Use with caution in hypertensive patients with chronic renal failure as it may impair the efficacy of antihypertensive drugs.
Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
