Nebicard 2.5

Presentation: Each tablet contains Nebivolol Hydrochloride equivalent to Nebivolol 2.5 mg.

Indications: Nebicard (Nebivolol) is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.It is also used in the management of stable mild to moderate chronic heart failure in elderly patients (over 70 years) in addition to standard therapy.

Dosage and Administration:

• Hypertension: The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily. This may be decreased to 2.5 mg once daily or increased to a maximum of 40 mg once daily based on blood pressure response. Lower starting doses are recommended in patients with renal impairment.
• Chronic Heart Failure: Treatment should be initiated and supervised by a physician experienced in the management of chronic heart failure. The starting dose is 1.25 mg once daily, which may be up-titrated gradually at 1-2 week intervals to a maximum tolerated dose of 10 mg once daily.

Nebicard tablets should be swallowed whole and can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

Side Effects: Common adverse reactions may include headache, dizziness, fatigue, and bradycardia (slow heart rate). Less common side effects can include hypotension (low blood pressure), paresthesia (tingling or numbness), and gastrointestinal disturbances.

Precautions: Nebicard is contraindicated in patients with severe bradycardia, heart block greater than first degree, cardiogenic shock, decompensated cardiac failure, sick sinussyndrome, and severe hepatic impairment. Caution should be exercised in patients with peripheral vascular disease, asthma or other respiratory problems, diabetes mellitus (may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia), and hyperthyroidism (may mask signs of thyrotoxicosis). Abrupt cessation of therapy should be avoided, especially in patients with coronary artery disease.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
