Nebicard 5

Presentation: Each tablet contains Nebivolol Hydrochloride equivalent to Nebivolol 5 mg.

Indications: Nebicard is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.Nebicard is also used in the treatment of stable mild and moderate chronic heart failure in elderly patients aged 70 years or older, in addition to standard therapies.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Hypertension: The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily. The dose may be increased if needed to 10 mg once daily. Doses higher than 40 mg once daily have not been studied. The antihypertensive effect is usually evident after 1-2 weeks of treatment.
  • Chronic Heart Failure: Treatment should be initiated and supervised by a physician experienced in the management of chronic heart failure. The starting dose is 1.25 mg once daily, which may be increased gradually at 1-2 week intervals based on tolerability, up to a maximum target dose of 10 mg once daily.

Nebicard tablets can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Follow the physician's instructions carefully.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, fatigue, and nausea. Other less frequent side effects can include bradycardia (slow heart rate), hypotension (low blood pressure), paresthesia (unusual skin sensations), shortness of breath, diarrhea, and constipation.

Precautions: Nebicard should not be used in patients with severe bradycardia, sick sinus syndrome, sinoatrial block, second- and third-degree AV block (without a pacemaker), cardiogenic shock, acute heart failure, severe peripheral arterial circulatory disturbances, untreated pheochromocytoma, metabolic acidosis, and severe hepatic impairment. Exercise caution in patients with compensated heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, diabetes mellitus (as it may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia), hyperthyroidism (as it may mask symptoms of thyrotoxicosis), and psoriasis. Avoid abrupt cessation of therapy in patients with ischemic heart disease. Inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Drug Interactions: Nebicard may interact with other medications, including other beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers (verapamil, diltiazem), antiarrhythmics (e.g., amiodarone), digitalis glycosides, and certain anesthetics. Concomitant use with CYP2D6 inhibitors (e.g., fluoxetine, paroxetine, quinidine) may increase nebivolol plasma concentrations.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
