Nebita 5

Presentation: Each tablet contains Nebivolol Hydrochloride equivalent to Nebivolol 5 mg. Available in blister packs containing strips of tablets. The number of tablets per strip may vary depending on the manufacturer in Bangladesh. The 5 mg strength is a common starting and maintenance dose for hypertension.

Indications: Nebita (Nebivolol) is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension. It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents. Nebivolol exhibits β1-adrenergic receptor blocking activity and also has vasodilating effects due to its interaction with the L-arginine/nitric oxide pathway.

Dosage and Administration: The usual starting dose for hypertension in adults is 5 mg once daily. The dose may be increased at 2-week intervals if needed, up to a maximum of 40 mg once daily. It can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. In elderly patients or those with renal or hepatic impairment, a lower starting dose of 2.5 mg once daily may be considered, with gradual titration if necessary.

Side Effects: Common side effects associated with Nebivolol may include headache, fatigue, dizziness, diarrhea, and nausea. Less common side effects can include bradycardia (slow heart rate), hypotension (low blood pressure), paresthesia (tingling or numbness), and shortness of breath. Most side effects are mild and transient, but patients should consult their doctor if they become persistent or bothersome.

Precautions: Nebita is contraindicated in patients with severe bradycardia, heart block greater than first degree, cardiogenic shock, decompensated cardiac failure, sick sinus syndrome (unless a permanent pacemaker is in place), and severe hepatic impairment. Caution should be exercised in patients with compensated heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, asthma or COPD, diabetes mellitus (may mask hypoglycemia symptoms), and hyperthyroidism (may mask tachycardia). Abrupt cessation of Nebita should be avoided, especially in patients with ischemic heart disease, as it may exacerbate angina.

Storage: Store Nebita 5 mg tablets in a cool and dry place below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
