Presentation: Nesifin is a nasal spray solution available in a 50 ml bottle. It contains Xylometazoline Hydrochloride BP as the active ingredient, typically at a concentration of 0.1% w/v or 0.05% w/v, depending on the specific product for adults or children, respectively. Nesifin is a product marketed by Opsonin Pharma Ltd.in Bangladesh and is usually supplied with a metered-dose pump for nasal application.

Indications: Nesifin (Xylometazoline) is a nasal decongestant used for the relief of nasal congestion due to:

  • Sinusitis
  • Other upper respiratory allergies

It works by constricting the blood vessels in the nasal passages, which helps to reduce swelling and congestion, making breathing easier.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage depends on the strength of the nasal spray and the age of the user. Follow the instructions provided on the product packaging or by your doctor.

  • Adults and children over 12 years (0.1% solution): Usually 1-2 sprays into each nostril, up to 3 times daily as needed. Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days.
  • Children 6-12 years (0.05% solution): Usually 1 spray into each nostril, up to 3 times daily as needed, under adult supervision. Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days.
  • Children under 6 years (0.05% solution): Use only as directed by a doctor.

Instructions for use:

  1. Blow your nose gently to clear your nasal passages.
  2. Remove the protective cap.
  3. Hold the spray bottle upright and insert the nozzle into one nostril, keeping the other nostril closed with your finger.
  4. Press the pump firmly to deliver the correct dose.
  5. Breathe gently through the nose.
  6. Repeat for the other nostril.
  7. Replace the protective cap after use.
