Presentation: Each tablet typically contains a combination of B-complex vitamins, including Vitamin B1 (Thiamine Mononitrate), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride), and Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin). The specific strengths of each component may vary depending on the formulation available in Bangladesh.
Indications: Neucos B is indicated for the treatment and prevention of deficiencies in Vitamin B1, B6, and B12, which are essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system. It is used in the management of polyneuropathy of various origins, such as diabetic, alcoholic, or toxic neuropathies, as well as neuritis, neuralgia, cervical syndrome, shoulder-arm syndrome, lumbago, sciatica, herpes zoster, trigeminal neuralgia, and as supportive treatment in facial paresis.
Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dose is one to three tablets daily, or as directed by a physician. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food. The dosage and duration of treatment depend on the severity of the deficiency and the individual's response.
Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated. Allergic hypersensitivity reactions may occur in some individuals. High doses of Vitamin B6 over prolonged periods may rarely lead to sensory neuropathy.
Precautions: Neucos B is contraindicated in patients on levodopa therapy and in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any of the components. Cyanocobalamin should be used with caution in patients with subacute degeneration of the spinal cord, as it may mask symptoms. It is not a suitable form of Vitamin B12 for treating optic neuropathies associated with raised plasma concentrations of cyanocobalamin.
Storage: Store in a cool (below 25°C) and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
