Ingredients: Contains Sodium Chloride BP 0.9% w/v in Water for Injection BP. Each 100 ml contains Sodium Chloride 0.9 g. Electrolyte content per 500 ml: Sodium (Na+) 77 mEq, Chloride (Cl-) 77 mEq. Osmolarity is approximately 308 mOsmol/L.

Indications: Indicated as a source of electrolytes and water for hydration in adults and children. Used for extracellular fluid replacement, treatment of metabolic alkalosis in the presence of fluid loss, and mild sodium depletion.Also used as a priming solution in hemodialysis procedures and to initiate or terminate blood transfusions without hemolysis. May also serve as a diluent for compatible drug additives.

Dosage & Administration: For intravenous use only. Dosage is prescribed by a physician and depends on the patient's age, weight, clinical condition, and laboratory findings. Frequent monitoring of electrolyte levels and fluid balance is essential during prolonged therapy. In adults, the volume administered will be determined by the physician based on individual needs. Pediatric dosage depends on weight, clinical condition, and lab results, following pediatric reference guidelines. Infusion rate is also determined by the physician.

Side Effects: Reactions may include fever, infection at the injection site, venous thrombosis or phlebitis, extravasation, and hypervolemia. Symptoms may arise from an excess or deficit of ions, so electrolyte levels should be monitored. Hypernatremia may lead to edema and worsen congestive heart failure. Rapid infusion of large amounts may cause fluid overload. Allergic reactions are possible.

Precautions: Contraindicated where sodium or chloride administration could be clinically detrimental. Use with caution in patients with congestive heart failure, severe renal insufficiency, edema with sodium retention, and those receiving corticosteroids or corticotropin. Monitor fluid balance, electrolyte levels, and acid-base balance. Special care is needed for children, infants, and newborns.

Storage: Store at room temperature. Do not freeze. Inspect for particulate matter and discoloration before use; do not use if solution is not clear or container is damaged.
