Novelta Suspension - (480mg + 20mg) / 5mlcontains a combination of two active ingredients: 

• Magaldrate BP: 480 mg
• Simethicone USP: 20 mg

It is manufactured by Orion Pharma Ltd.

Indications:

Novelta Suspension is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with:

• Indigestion
• Heartburn 
• Acid reflux
• Sour stomach
• Hiatal hernia
• Peptic ulcers
• Gastritis
• Esophagitis
• Bloating
• Stomach distension
• Gas

It can be given to children if necessary.

Pharmacology:

• Magaldrate is a magnesium-aluminum compound that quickly neutralizes stomach acid without raising the pH above 5-6. It also reduces the activity of pepsin in gastric juices.
• Simethicone helps gas bubbles come together for easier elimination, relieving bloating and gas.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: The usual dose is 2-4 teaspoonfuls (10-20 ml) 20 to 60 minutes after meals and before bed, or as directed by a physician.
• Children 12 years and older: Same as the adult dose.

Shake well before each use.

Contraindications:

Novelta is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to magnesium or aluminum. It should also not be used in patients with impaired renal function.

Side Effects:

Side effects are rare but may include:

• Diarrhea
• Constipation
• Stomach upset (if too much is taken)
• Chalky taste

Pregnancy and Lactation:

Novelta may be used during pregnancy if necessary, but excessive doses should be avoided. It can pass into breast milk, but no problems have been reported in breastfed babies. Consult your doctor before use.

Precautions and Warnings:

• Use with caution in patients with kidney problems or low phosphate levels.

Drug Interactions:

Novelta should not be used with Tetracycline antibiotics. It may also reduce the effectiveness or slow the absorption of drugs like:

• Propranolol
• Isoniazid
• Prednisolone
• Naproxen

It is generally recommended to take Novelta at least 2 hours before or after other medications.

Storage Conditions:

Keep below 30°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
