Novonil 20 

Presentation: Each film-coated tablet contains Vonoprazan Fumarate INN equivalent to Vonoprazan 20 mg.

Indications: Novonil (Vonoprazan) is indicated for:

• Healing of gastric ulcer (GU) and duodenal ulcer (DU).
• Treatment of reflux esophagitis (RE).
• Maintenance therapy of reflux esophagitis showing recurrence and recrudescence.
• Prevention of recurrence of gastric or duodenal ulcer during low-dose aspirin administration.  
• Prevention of recurrence of gastric or duodenal ulcer during non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) administration.  
• Adjunct to Helicobacter pylorieradication.  

Dosage and Administration: Novonil can be taken without regard to food or timing of food. The usual adult dose is 20 mg once daily for gastric ulcer (up to 8 weeks) and duodenal ulcer (up to 6 weeks). For reflux esophagitis, the usual dose is 20 mg once daily for 4 weeks, which may be extended up to 8 weeks if insufficient. For maintenance therapy of RE, the dose is 10 mg once daily, which may be increased to 20 mg once daily if efficacy is inadequate. For prevention of recurrence of GU/DU during low-dose aspirin or NSAID administration, the usual dose is 10 mg once daily. For H. pylori eradication, the usual regimen is Vonoprazan 20 mg, Amoxicillin 750 mg, and Clarithromycin 200 mg, all taken twice daily for 7 days. Dosage adjustments may be needed in elderly patients and those with hepatic impairment. Avoid use in moderate to severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh B or C).

Side Effects:Following side effects have been reported with the use of Vonoprazan: Diarrhea, constipation, drug hypersensitivity (including anaphylactic shock), drug eruption, urticaria, hepatotoxicity, jaundice, rash, nausea,and abdominal distension.

Precautions: Novonil (Vonoprazan) is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Vonoprazan or any excipient of the product and in patients receiving Atazanavir sulphate, Nelfinavir, or Rilpivirine hydrochloride. It should be used in pregnant women or women having the possibility of being pregnant only if the expected therapeutic benefitoutweighs any possible risk. It is advisable to avoid administration to nursing mothers. Careful administration is needed in elderly patients. Safety and efficacy in children under 18 years have not been established. Avoid use in moderate to severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min).

Storage: Store below 30°C, in a cool and dry place, away from light. Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
