Ingredients: Contains essential and non-essential amino acids, D-Sorbitol, and electrolytes (Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, Chloride, Acetate). The specific amounts of each amino acid and electrolyte are detailed on the product information.
Indications: Indicated as a source of amino acids for protein synthesis in patients requiring intravenous nutrition, especially those with basal amino acid requirements. It is also used to promote faster recovery in conditions like surgery, burns, renal insufficiency, hepatic insufficiency, and in the management of cancer.
Dosage and Administration: Dosage is determined by a physician based on the patient's nutritional status and degree of metabolic stress, typically ranging from 15-35 ml/kg/day. The infusion rate is usually slow, around 2-4 ml (30-60 drops) per minute for adults. In obese patients, the dose should be based on ideal body weight. For infants and children, a rate of 28-35 ml/kg body weight per day is recommended, with a gradual increase during the first week.
Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated. Nausea may occur rarely. Rapid infusion may lead to nausea, vomiting, flushing, and sweating. Thrombophlebitis may occur with peripheral vein use. Increased urinary excretion of trace elements like copper and zinc may happen during prolonged use. Hyperphenylalaninemia may occur in severely ill, premature infants.
Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with inborn errors of amino acid metabolism, irreversible liver damage, and severe uremia without dialysis facilities. Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus, severe heart failure, or renal impairment with fluid restrictions or oliguria/anuria. Monitoring of serum potassium and blood glucose is recommended during rapid or high-volume infusion. Additional phosphate may be needed in hypophosphatemia. Do not use if the solution is turbid or contains particles.
Storage: Protect from light and store between 15°C to 25°C. Avoid freezing. Discard any unused portion.
