Oclazid MR 30

Presentation: Each modified-release tablet contains Gliclazide BP 30 mg. Available in strips.

Indications: Oclazid MR is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone are not sufficient to control blood glucose levels.

Dosage and Administration: The usual initial dose is 30 mg once daily, taken orally with breakfast. The dose may be adjusted gradually based on blood glucose levels, usually at intervals of 2 weeks, up to a maximum of 120 mg once daily. The tablet should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed. Follow the physician's instructions carefully.

Side Effects: The most common side effect is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Other possible side effects include weight gain, headache, nausea, dizziness, and gastrointestinal disturbances such as abdominal pain and diarrhea. Skin reactions like rash, itching, and hives may also occur. Rarely, liver function abnormalities and blood disorders have been reported.

Precautions: Oclazid MR is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe kidney or liver disease, and known hypersensitivity to gliclazide or other sulfonylureas. Use with caution in patients with risk factors for hypoglycemia, such as elderly patients, malnourished individuals, or those with impaired adrenal or pituitary function. Alcohol consumption should be avoided. Certain medications can interact with gliclazide, potentially increasing or decreasing its blood sugar-lowering effect. Inform your doctor of all medications you are taking. Regular blood glucose monitoring is essential.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
