Ocoral-D 

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Calcium Carbonate (from Coral source) USP equivalent to Elemental Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 USP 200 IU. Available in strips. Manufactured by Kumudini Pharma Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Indications:Indicated for the treatment and prevention of:  

• Osteoporosis 
• Osteomalacia 
• Tetany 
• Hypoparathyroidism 
• Disorders of osteogenesis Also usedas a supplement in case of inadequate intake of Calcium in childhood diet, rickets, pregnancy & lactation,and in elderly patients. Other indications include pancreatitis and as a phosphate binder in chronic renal failure.

Dosage and Administration: The usual dosage is one tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water or as directed by a physician. It is generally recommended to take it with a full stomach for better absorption.

Side Effects: Rarely, patients may experience flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, or upper gastrointestinal discomfort. Hypercalcaemia due to prolonged use has been rarely reported.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components, hypercalcaemia resulting from overdose of Vitamin D3, hyperparathyroidism, bone metastases, severe renal insufficiency, severe hypercalciuria, and renal calculi.Careful monitoring with dose reduction may be needed in mild hypercalciuria and mild to moderate renal impairment. Plasma and serum Calcium levels should be monitored in long-term use. Patients with a history of renal stones should take precautions.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
