Omidon 10
Presentation: Each tablet contains 10 mg of Domperidone Maleate BP equivalent to 10 mg of Domperidone.
- The treatment of nausea and vomiting.
- The symptomatic relief of upper gastro-intestinal motility disorders.
- Control of nausea and vomiting associated with cytotoxic and radiation therapy.
- Management of nausea and vomiting associated with dopamine agonist anti-Parkinson therapy.
Dosage and Administration:
- Adults: The usual dose is 10-20 mg (1-2 tablets) every 4-8 hours. The maximum daily dose is 80 mg.
- It is recommended to take Omidon 10 tablets 15-30 minutes before meals.
- The duration of treatment for acute nausea and vomiting should not exceed 12 weeks.
Side Effects: Common side effects may include:
- Dry mouth
- Headache
- Drowsiness
- Diarrhea
- Skin rash and itching
Less common side effects may include anxiety, hard bowel movements, and fatigue. In rare cases, it can increase prolactin levels, leading to breast enlargement and milk production.
Precautions:
- Inform your doctor if you are allergic to domperidone or any other ingredients in Omidon 10.
- Do not use if you have gastrointestinal hemorrhage, obstruction, or perforation.
- Contraindicated in patients with prolactin-releasing pituitary tumors (prolactinoma).
- Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney disease and heart problems.
- It may cause dizziness and drowsiness, so caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery.
- The safety of Omidon 10 during pregnancy has not been established, so it is not recommended unless clearly needed.
- Domperidone passes into breast milk in small quantities and is generally considered safe for breastfeeding mothers. However, consult your doctor before use.
- Use with caution in children due to a potential increased risk of extrapyramidal reactions.
Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
