Opsovit C 

Presentation: Tablets containing Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid). Different strengths may be available (e.g., 500 mg). Available in strips or bottles. Manufactured by Opsonin Pharma Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Indications: Indicated for the prevention and treatment of Vitamin C deficiency. Vitamin C is essential for the formation and maintenance of collagen, wound healing, and the absorption of iron. It also acts as an antioxidant and supports the immune system. May be used in conditions such as scurvy, and during periods of increased need such as illness, stress, and pregnancy.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: The usual dose is 500 mg to 1 gram daily, or as directed by a physician. Higher doses may be recommended for specific conditions.
• Children: Dosage should be determined by a physician based on age and condition.
• The tablets are usually taken orally with water.

Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated. High doses (above 1 gram per day) may cause gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. Increased risk of kidney stone formation has been reported with very high doses in susceptible individuals.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ascorbic acid. Should be given with caution to patients with hyperoxaluria, G6PD deficiency, and those taking oral anticoagulants (as high doses may affect their action). Large doses may interfere with some laboratory tests, such as urine glucose tests.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Store below 25°C or as specified on the product packaging.
