Oral-ZB

Presentation: Light yellow colored, sweet syrup with orange flavor. Each 5 ml contains Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate USP equivalent to elemental Zinc 10 mg, Thiamine Hydrochloride BP (B1) 5 mg, Riboflavin-5-Phosphate Sodium BP equivalent to Riboflavin (B2) 2 mg, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride BP (B6) 2 mg, and Nicotinamide BP (B3) 20 mg.

Indications: Oral-ZB is indicated for the treatment and prevention of Zinc and Vitamin B-complex deficiencies. Zinc is crucial for a healthy immune system, normal growth and development, and wound healing. B-vitamins are essential for energy release from food, healthy brain and nerve function, and red blood cell formation. It is especially needed for normal growth and development in children.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Children under 10 kg: 1 teaspoonful (5 ml) 1 to 2 times daily or as directed by the physician.
  • Children (10-30 kg): 2 teaspoonfuls (10 ml) 1 to 3 times daily or as directed by the physician.
  • Adults & Children over 30 kg: 2 teaspoonfuls (10 ml) 2 to 3 times daily or as directed by the physician. It is generally recommended to take this medicine at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals for optimal absorption of Zinc. However, if stomach upset occurs, it can be taken with food.

Side Effects: Oral-ZB is generally well tolerated. However, few side effects may occur, like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach upset. Side effects have been reported with specific vitamins but generally at levels substantially higher than recommended doses.

Precautions:   Zinc can be used with caution in patients with acute renal failure as Zinc accumulation may occur. The combination of Zinc and Vitamin B complex is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients. Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) can decrease the effectiveness of Levodopa. Concomitant intake of Tetracycline or Quinolone antibiotics and Zinc may decrease the absorption of both drugs; allow at least 3 hours between doses. Penicillamine may decrease Zinc absorption if used concomitantly.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
