Orsaline (Acme's ORS)

Presentation: Powder for oral solution. Each sachet contains a specific formulation of electrolytes (sodium chloride, potassium chloride) and glucose. Available in various flavors and pack sizes.

Indications: For the treatment and prevention of dehydration due to diarrhea, vomiting, and excessive sweating. Helps to restore body fluids and electrolytes lost due to these conditions.

Dosage and Administration: Dissolve the entire contents of one sachet in the specified amount of clean drinking water (usually mentioned on the sachet, typically 500ml or 1 liter). Stir well until the powder is completely dissolved. The solution should be consumed orally, slowly and steadily. The amount needed depends on the age, weight, and severity of dehydration. Follow the instructions provided on the packaging or as directed by a healthcare professional.

Side Effects: Generally safe when prepared and administered according to instructions. If the solution is too concentrated (prepared with less water than recommended), it may lead to hypernatremia (high sodium levels).

Precautions: Use with caution in individuals with severe renal impairment or uncontrolled diabetes. If vomiting persists or dehydration worsens despite using Orsaline, seek medical advice immediately.

Storage: Store the sachets in a cool, dry place. Once the solution is prepared, it should be consumed within a few hours at room temperature or within 24 hours if refrigerated. Discard any unused solution after this time. Keep out of reach of children.
