Ortical 740 

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Calcium Orotate equivalent to 740 mg of Calcium Orotate. 

Indications: Indicated for the prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency. May be used in conditions such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, latent tetany, postmenopausal osteoporosis, senile osteoporosis, juvenile osteoporosis,and drug-induced osteoporosis. Also indicated during periods of increased calcium requirement such as pregnancy and lactation. Some sources suggest potential benefits in inflammatory conditions, weight management, mood regulation, and cognitive function.

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dosage is 1-2 tablets daily with meals, or as directed by a physician.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include bloating and abdominal swelling. Infrequent side effects may include loss of appetite, upset stomach, constipation, nausea, vomiting, increased thirst, increased urination, weakness, and headache. Kidney stone formation has been reported rarely.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with kidney stones, kidney disease, increased parathyroid gland activity (hyperparathyroidism), high levels of calcium in the urine (hypercalciuria) or blood (hypercalcaemia), severe dehydration, and conditions causing incomplete or infrequent bowel movements. Caution should be exercised in patients with allergies, heart disease, pancreatic disease, sarcoidosis, or malabsorption syndrome. May interact with bisphosphonates, quinolone and tetracycline antibiotics, levothyroxine, and phenytoin; separate administration times may be necessary. Thiazide diuretics may increase the risk of hypercalcemia.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
