Ostocal-G (Strip)

Presentation: Each strip contains 10 film-coated tablets. Each tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP (from Coral Source) 1250 mg equivalent to 500 mg elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 (as Cholecalciferol USP) 200IU.

Indications: Ostocal-G is prescribed for the treatment of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, tetany, and parathyroid disease. Coral Calcium supplements are often used to ensure adequate dietary intake in conditions such as pregnancy, nursing, kidney disease, and pancreatitis or during therapy with anti-seizure medications. It is also used asa routine supplement and phosphate binder in chronic renal failure.  

Dosage and Administration:Two tablets daily in two divided doses in the morning and night, or as directed by the physician. It is best taken with or just after a meal to improve absorption.Each tablet should be taken with a full glass of water.  

Side Effects: The combination is generally well tolerated. Constipation may occur. If you experience nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, dry mouth, increased thirst, or increased urination while taking this medication, you should notify your physician.

Precautions: It is contraindicated in case of hypercalcaemia, hyperthyroidism, renal calculi & nephrolithiasis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and concomitant digoxin therapy. If there is any pre-existing heart disease or kidney disease, precautions should be taken. When hypercalcemia occurs, discontinuation of the drug shouldbe considered. Patients with a history of stone formation should take necessary caution in taking Calcium and increase fluid intake.

Storage: Keep away from light and wet places. Keep out of reach of children. Store at a temperature below 30°C, protected from light and moisture.
