Ostocal GX 

Presentation: Each film-coated tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP (from Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium, Vitamin D3 USP 200 IU (Cholecalciferol), and Glucosamine Sulfate Potassium Chloride equivalent to Glucosamine Sulfate 750 mg.

Indications: Ostocal GX is indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. The Calcium and Vitamin D3 components help in maintaining bone health and preventing calcium and Vitamin D deficiency. Glucosamine sulfate is used to help relieve the pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis, particularly of the knee. It may also help to slow the progression of osteoarthritis.

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dose is one tablet twice daily, preferably with or after meals to enhance absorption and minimize potential gastrointestinal discomfort, or as directed by a physician. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. The duration of treatment depends on the individual's condition and response.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include mild gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, constipation, diarrhea, or flatulence. Allergic reactions to glucosamine (especially in individuals with shellfish allergy) are possible but rare. High doses of calcium may lead to hypercalcemia in susceptible individuals.

Precautions: Ostocal GX is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components, including shellfish allergy (due to glucosamine). It is not recommended for use in children. Caution should be exercised in patients with renal impairment, hypercalcemia, hyperparathyroidism, and those taking other medications, particularly blood thinners like warfarin, as glucosamine may have a mild anticoagulant effect. Diabetic patients should monitor their blood glucose levels as glucosamine might affect blood sugar control.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
