Ostocal Vita 

Presentation: Effervescent tablets containing Calcium Lactate Gluconate, Calcium Carbonate, and Vitamin D3. Available in tubes. Manufactured by Eskayef Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Ingredients: Each effervescent tablet contains Calcium Lactate Gluconate 1358.196 mg, Calcium Carbonate BP 600 mg (equivalent to elemental Calcium), and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol BP.

Indications: Indicated for the prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiency. It is used as a supplement to specific therapy in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in patients at risk of calcium and vitamin D deficiency.  

Dosage & Administration:1-2 tablets per day, preferably one tablet each morning and evening, or as directed bya physician. Dissolve one tablet in a glass of water (it will dissolve within 1-2 minutes) and drink the solution immediately.

Side Effects: Orally administered Calcium Carbonate may irritate the gastrointestinal tract and can cause constipation. Other possible side effects include allergic reactions, irregular heartbeats, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, dry mouth, sleepiness, and skin rash. Hypercalcemia is rarely caused by calcium alone but can occur when substantial doses are given to patients with chronic renal failure.

Precautions:Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism, hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis, hypersensitivityto any component of this preparation,and severe renal insufficiency. Calcium salts should be used cautiously in individuals with sarcoidosis, renal or cardiac disease, and in patients receiving cardiac glycosides. Patients with a history of stone formationmay also be advised to drink more water.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Keep the container tightly closed.
