Ostoplus D 500 

Presentation: Each tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP (from oyster shell) 500 mg and Vitamin D3 BP 200 IU (as Cholecalciferol).

Indications: Ostoplus D 500 is indicated for the treatment and prevention of calcium and Vitamin D3 deficiency. It is used in conditions such as:

• Osteoporosis
• Osteomalacia and rickets
• Tetany
• Hypoparathyroidism
• As a supplement during pregnancy and lactation
• Ensuring adequate calcium intake during osteogenesis and tooth formation (as an adjunct to specific treatment)
• Routine calcium supplementation
• Phosphate binder in chronic renal failure

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dosage is 1-2 tablets daily or as directed by the physician. It is best taken with or just after a meal to improve absorption.

Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated. Possible side effects may include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Stomach cramps
• Dry mouth
• Increased thirst
• Increased urination
• Constipation

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcaemia, hyperthyroidism, renal calculi (kidney stones), and nephrolithiasis. Caution should be taken in patients with pre-existing heart or kidney disease. Use during pregnancy and lactation should be as directed by a physician.

Drug Interactions:May interact with calcium, aluminum, or magnesium-containing antacids and other calcium supplements, calcitriol and other Vitamin D3 supplements, digoxin, tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline,or oxytetracycline.  

Storage: Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
